Web3 Use Cases: The Future

The issue is web3 discourse under-sells the power of the web, oversimplifies the benefits of a new architecture, and skips over meaningful hurdles (UX, security, trust, long-term economics). I think we confuse theories with actual user value props and sustainable business models.

That said, the web3 experience still remains complex and confusing to all but the most technical or committed. By baking money into the protocols themselves, web3 has been able to bootstrap demand further ahead of user experience than the paradigms of the past, but that won’t be enough to cross the chasm.

The main use-case of web3 is speculation and money laundering. We’ve been promised much more, but at this point blockchain technology is over a decade old. It didn’t take web1 nearly this long to flourish after the browser and HTTP were invented. Shouldn’t more have happened by now?
