People with soft hearts often give the most, and ask for the least. But somewhere along the way, we have to realize that being good doesn’t mean we have to settle for someone who isn’t.

If we’ve been taught that we have to earn affection, we start to believe that love is something we constantly need to prove ourselves worthy of. And so, we chase, we overgive, we tolerate. Not because we are weak, but because we’re used to thinking that love should feel a little bit like pain.
