A few gems scattered across Tokyo. We found time to stop by these free locations to appreciate some design and architecture. It’s a nice way to slow down and catch a break from the busyness that is shibuya. I know the last recc is a little random, but this one is a personal favourite- work by architect Miles Pennington in collab with the University of Tokyo’s design team as part of Tokyos iconic THE TOKYO TOILET project. It works to complement the Musashino Place library that sits directly opposite it~ with a very similar facade. ⚪️⚪️⚪️ I love spots.

Welcome to the 12th episode of the Slow Travel With Me series! Here are the places featured in this video: 1. Koetsuji Temple A quieter temple in Kyoto, away from the busy tourist spots. When I visited in autumn, the beautiful colors of the maple leaves lit up the entire temple garden. I highly recommend coming in the morning to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere! 2. Koetsu Chaya A cozy café near Koetsuji Temple run by an elderly couple. Sunlight streams into the space, and sitting on tatami with a warm bowl of matcha makes for a wonderfully relaxing afternoon. 3. Susanatsu A small, heartwarming café with a sweet owner and incredibly delicious tea and coffee. The shop also features handmade ceramic works by Okinawan artisans. I bought a teacup made of 40% seashells—it felt like bringing a little piece of Kyoto home with me. I hope you can also experience a slow and relaxing time in Kyoto!
