underdo the competition
I had to find a niche that I could dominate from day one, not because I was better than the competition, but because of the lack of competition.
Realize that in life and business, it’s always what stands out that gets remembered. If everyone competes on price, but you are the only one raging about your incredible customer service, then that’s what we’ll remember.
Don’t be the best. Be the only.
But whether as an individual or as a brand, you can’t thrive if you spend the majority of your time competing with and comparing yourself to others. Differentiation happens when you authentically amplify the best of you—discovering how to be more of who you are, rather than finding ways to be a version of the competition.
When you feel like you have to start out competing with the largest player in the market, you end up chasing your competitor’s growth instead of bettering your own offering.
