The call to grow draws us to read more and read more widely. It draws us to education we lack and ideas we ignore. The call to grow as a writer is a call to push ourselves, to set bigger goals and demand more of our abilities.

And that’s how you’ll know if it’s yours. Has God called you to write a book? Good. Write it. Don’t worry about it being published. Start writing. Don’t be afraid to dream big, but don’t let those dreams keep you from starting.

What is writing for? Why am I doing it?

One favorite help to me in finding the inspiration to write is reading books about writing. It’s one reason why I wanted to write one. The writing of the books itself isn’t easy either. It’s months of work. Lots of reading. Lots of thinking about one single thing when I wish I could be thinking about lots of other more relaxing things. And then, because writers write, you have to actually sit down and write. Lots of long hours in long days spent staring at a screen, fingers

you can also take a work that you admire, set it next to you, and transcribe it word for word.

Another technique is to try writing the work of another.

If you’re stuck for writing, try reading.

Try taking a walk, for instance.
