There are only two ways to override the exposure: with the exposure compensation dial or through software. The Fn button and the Quick Navi screen are shortcuts to access the menu and both alter the exposure via software.

The camera will track the subject so you can take shot after shot until one of the following conditions is met: the subject is no longer in the field of view, you turn off the Center Lock-on AF command with the menu, or you turn off the camera.

The other variety, Panasonic (originally Sanyo) eneloop, has a slow discharge. When you buy them, they have enough charge that you can use them immediately. When they are fully charged, they retain 75–85 percent of their charge for a year.
