The Savannah Bananas storm Fenway Park
Since 2016, the Savannah Bananas—an independent-league baseball team playing out of Savannah, Georgia—have operated by a single mission: Fans First, Entertain Always. Every decision we make, we ask if it’s Fans First. If it’s not, we don’t do it.
When the Savannah Bananas play games as part of the independent Coastal Plain League, we play by the traditional rules of baseball. But when we play exhibitions in the spring and fall as a premier, paid professional team, it’s a whole new ballgame. We call it Banana Ball.
Savannah Bananas was the only idea that gave us more ideas. The second we heard it, we started thinking about all the other promotions we could run with a name like that.
Unlike even the major league teams, Bananas aren’t focused on their performance and their paychecks. Instead, they’re focused on the fans. Every single night, players have multiple interactions with fans—multiple chances to hear about how they’re impacting the lives of spectators through their wild and crazy version
Watching the Bananas is like attending a carnival that happens to break out into a baseball game.
