The Multiplying Church: The New Math for Starting New Churches

Outside of Christianity, civil rights and a woman’s right to vote are movements that remind us that movements take time, and we must not grow discouraged.

We have a rather skewed view of movements and we confuse them with fads, trends, and hype. Legitimate Jesus movements are not like Beanie Babies

the more we trusted God, the more he gave us.

“gospel planting” because we plant the gospel and train obedience and the result is churches.

Persecution matters because it calls the church to sacrifice and suffer. Today in the West, we can’t force persecution, nor would we wish that upon anyone. However, practicing a life of ministry that requires sacrifice in every dimension of our lives can have the same effect on the church.

Spreading the gospel isn’t dependent on a building, a pulpit, a speaker, or an organization. If a church has those things, they should exist to facilitate the discipleship

Discipleship isn’t information transfer but behavioral transformation,

It is possible to have a church without the kingdom. However, you won’t have the kingdom without multiplying churches.

Missional simply means the kingdom flowing out of us wherever we are. It’s living beyond ourselves and beyond what we can control.
