The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion: Freeing Yourself from Destructive Thoughts and Emotions
Say to yourself “labeling,” when you notice you’re labeling, or “judging” when you’re judging, and “thinking” when you catch yourself lost in thought.
The definition of mindfulness that I find particularly useful is from meditation teacher Guy Armstrong: “Knowing what you are experiencing while you’re experiencing it.”
I use “acceptance” in this book to refer to a conscious choice to experience our sensations, feelings, and thoughts just as they are, moment to moment.
This is a book about how we can benefit by turning toward our emotional pain.
