Essentially, we begin our contemplation by focusing our awareness on something. If we are contemplating a challenge, then we focus on the resolution of the challenge. We hold that goal for as long as we can and when our awareness drifts away, we simply keep bringing it gently back again.
If you try and merge with a person without this inner space you will become entangled with them.
The art of contemplation teaches us to covet this precious but vital gift of lightness. Sometimes when the clouds gather and press in on us, or when our brows curl into furrows, the one thing we need above all is this sense of greater perspective.
