Succeeding in Business in Any Market - Volume II: Together with Insights from Top International Business Leaders
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. “ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Be humble. Father Anselm Grün says: “Leadership is a service, not a privilege.”
People leave bosses, not companies. Five components are necessary for successfully leading people: a leader’s attitude, empathy, communication, selling and negotiation.
Share the vision, the “why” of your plan. Metaphorically convey the love and longing for the sea to the carpenters building your ship.
State your (high) price first. From that moment on, the other person has to justify why they don’t want to or can’t pay the price. Package your price with the benefits and advantages of your service (sandwich technique).
Do the things that are important for your success before they become urgent (B tasks) If possible, delegate everything that you don’t have to do yourself (C tasks).
Successful people know that energy follows awareness: positive thoughts cause positive results.
Make sure you are clear on your two main motivations: What do you definitely want to achieve (joy motivation factor), and what do you definitely want to avoid (your fear motivation factor)?
The good news is that we are not our ego, we just have one. That means we can control it. And most of what we want to ignore about ourselves is not at all bad but may just be human.
