The lesson:

Urgency and scarcity are incredibly powerful... when used authentically.

There's also the question of integrity.

Is the way you want to show up online really by lying?

fake countdown timers

reopening the cart after deadline

letting people "through the back door"

I know these tricks make you money.

But at what cost?

Or another way of looking at it...

If your business requires fake scarcity in order to function, don’t you think something else might be awry?

Anyway...

You might be asking why I put a deadline on a free piece of content.

Reason is that I want people to actually watch it.

It would be easy to just make it available in perpetuity.

But then, guess what?

People don’t watch it.

But, by presenting the content as:

Live event (free, but you gotta be there live)

Replay (free but it’s only available 48 hours)

then I simultaneously offer the full value that I can...

while actually ensuring that the people who are really interested in it will actually watch it.

Would that work for your business?
