Confession #1: This archive of images vexes me. They are photographs that affect me and images in which I see a multitude of things. I’m conflicted by the beauty I see in them, perplexed by the quiet introspection they so hauntingly depict.
This is why, when we are struck by a new piece of art, it can resonate on a deeper level. Perhaps this is the familiar, coming back to us in an unfamiliar form. Or maybe it is something unknown that we didn’t realize we were looking for. A missing piece in a puzzle that has no end.
History often presents itself as grand, sweeping narratives—wars, revolutions, prominent figures that reshaped the world.
