Work has been stripped bare, unveiling that most of our current system of work is built on the idea of suffering, on pain. Consequently, people are either giving in (i.e. quiet quitting, anti-ambition), giving up (i.e. great resignation), or rising up and demanding change (i.e. anti-work, 4-hour workweek, UBI).
Pleasure activism is the work we do to reclaim our whole, happy, and satisfiable selves from the impacts, delusions, and limitations of oppression and/or supremacy.
Because it says, first, how can I be a creator? How can I trust that I am worthy of defining desire and pleasure and liberation as myself or in relationship to other Black lesbians, Black queer women of color, trans and gender-nonconforming folks of color?
the cultivation of joy as a form of sustenance and a means of rebellion.
“aliveness”—it’s how you learn to experience joy and pleasure.
