Here, at this station, we see Jesus’ body broken. This has always been a difficult passage for me to read. Jesus is an innocent man who is just trying to remind people to put God first, to be merciful—and for that his flesh is torn apart. He has not raised a sword or a hand against anyone, and yet the soldiers raise theirs against him. Jesus

The wrath of God was not present or involved in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in any way.

The notion that our loving heavenly Father could direct his wrath at rebellious man knowing that some of his children will also suffer is in itself a perverse idea.
