Children aren’t responsible for their parents’ happiness, but they still try.

It’s a funny thing. The person we fall in love with, we hardly ever call by their name. Because it’s somehow just so obvious that it’s you I’m talking to, that it’s you I’m always thinking of. Who else?

“We are NOT the same age. We might have lived the same number of years, but we sure as hell aren’t the same age.

That’s the worst thing about having a vivid imagination: it works in all directions.

But for Ted it’s impossible to come home now, he realizes, because home was the people.

“There’s nothing like the sea. Now your skin knows that. Now it’s going to miss it, always,” he promises.

Because a really good summer vacation should only really have two days: the first, and the last.

“If I live until I’m eighty, it won’t matter, because this is my now forever.”
