Mark: phones, TVs, etc try to deliver experiences that feel high fidelity but at no point you feel like you are in it....  You can't have side conversations on Zoom. 

Mark: Centralized systems, if you are a serious company, can allow you to train systems that will do much better personalization.

Mark: People think the metaverse is a place - but it's really about a time when immersive digital worlds become the primary way we live our lives. The metaverse is a continuation, not a new thing.

The key question: how do you replicate presence?  Mark says Meta wants to make the most human thing possible: visual presence, spatial audio, temperature, olfactory system, touch, etc.

Mark: I understand why people would be concerned about ads as a business model. But does getting people angry and serving them provocative content make them more likely to use Facebook services over the long term? I don't think so.
