To Duwaji, the intersection between art and politics is inevitable: “I don’t think everybody has to make political work, but art is inherently political in how it's made, funded and shared... it is a reaction to the world around us.”

Duwaji deployed her fine art skills in support of Mamdani's campaign, with bold blue and yellow signage harking back to retro New York City storefront designs, playing into Mamdani’s branding as a mayor of the working people.
