Have You Ever Realized How Beautiful Life Becomes Once You Start Paying Attention? In 2010, Harvard did a study that found people spend nearly 47 percent of their waking hours thinking about something other than what they’re doing. That means almost half of our day is spent somewhere else. Not in the now. Not in the present. The world moves fast. There’s so much to get lost in, right in the palm of your hand. A million things to worry about. I get it. I struggle with it too. While you’re reading this, think back to the last time you felt fully present. Not half there, not distracted, but actually in the moment. Maybe it was the night you lost your phone and were just with your friends. Or the last time you went on a date and gave someone your full attention. Whatever it was, you were there. And you felt it. Try to have more of those. On average, we get about 683,280 hours in a lifetime. And lately, it feels like we spend so many of them caught up in things that don’t really matter. What does matter is what’s in front of us. Right now. So maybe after this, step outside without your phone. Go for a walk. Do something simple that brings you back to the present. Distractions are everywhere. And the more you give in to them, the easier it gets to stay out of the moment you’re actually in. Choose to be here. Even just for a little while.

It’s actually pretty easy to be self-disciplined (if you stop getting distracted)
