In 1960, publisher Bennett Cerf bet Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) $50 that he could not write an entertaining children's book using only 50 different words. Seuss accepted the challenge, crafting Green Eggs and Ham within this strict constraint, which went on to become one of his best-selling books.
