How Much Should I Train?: An Introduction to the Volume Landmarks (Renaissance Periodization Book 5)
apply the 60% Rule to your load planning. According to this experimentally calculated formula, the volume of the lowest load training unit (a workout, a microcycle/week, a mesocycle/month) should equal approximately 60% of the highest load unit, provided they are of the same length.
In many training programmes there is an inverse relationship between volume and intensity – that is, if volume is high, intensity is low and vice versa.
The best trade-off of stimulus and fatigue probably occurs somewhere in the middle of the stimulus range, but a progression from the lower to the upper end of the range might make the most sense.
