Google’s AI design principles in 2024: user-centric AI experiences

If AI services can understand the user’s intent, it becomes even more obvious what the ideal input and output modes should be.

I’ve appreciated the work of many designers who have pushed to remind us of our golden rule: technology must solve real user needs. Or, more directly, AI shouldn’t be built just for the sake of AI.

But as designers and technologists, our focus extends beyond the data to consider how AI can impact the human experience. We are committed to harnessing AI’s potential to not only improve processes, but also to enhance lives.
