One of the ancient names for God in the yogic tradition is Satchitananda—Eternal, Conscious Bliss. God is ecstasy.

Gandharvas are gods known for their skill as musicians who are devoted to pleasure and who live in the sky. Thus, their cloud-like cities are often used as a metaphor for illusions. While the deer represent those who seek pleasure in the realm of desire, the gandharvas represent those who seek pleasure in the realm of form.

Mahatma Gandhi, who studied Sanskrit while in jail, pointed out that the Sanskrit word sat has two meanings: the first is ‘truth,’ and the second is ‘that which is.’ When asked for a definition of God, Gandhi said, “Truth is God. God alone is and nothing else exists.”
