Emergence: The Shift from Ego to Essence

My life will continually bring me experiences of the different levels of consciousness within me, so that I can drop my defenses and claim more of who I am. In my Pathwork, I learn to release the mask and lower self, and open up to live more and more from the higher self.

Our job, as souls on this mortal journey, is to shift the seat of our identity from the lower realm to the upper, from the ego to the Self.

This next stage involves taming our ego and searching for more authentic, more wholesome ways of being.

ALMAAS: The ego identity is a fake dynamism; it is always running around, always burning rubber. In contrast to this agitation and busyness, the true dynamism of Being may initially feel quite subtle and undramatic.1

All spiritual and psychological paths are attempts to answer the question, “Who am I?” Different paths focus on different levels of consciousness, different parts of the totality of our experience of being human. Psychological work will help us integrate the inner child and strengthen the positive ego. Some spiritual work will help us develop our i
