See moreTo convince our brains to do the hard work of imagining hard-to-imagine futures, we have to move out of a state of boredom, distraction, or indifference and into a mindset of high interest, curiosity, and attention. The asteroid scenario, while far less probable than a mass climate migration, is a much more vivid kind of crisis to imagine.
Visions of dystopia are nothing if not plausible and realistic. We must also make just and liberated futures irresistible.
While our goal is to improve confidence in facing uncertain futures by providing tools and instilling clarity of vision, if we are to advance future-making efficacy it’s critical to recognize these perceived inequities and limitations on agency.
