this is also my cope for mechanical keyboards — but i do think there is some truth to this, esp if done in moderation. this is to say, the process of selecting my keyboard, picking custom switches, swapping them out, and maintaining and cleaning it every month is incredibly meaningful to me (even though most people can’t tell the difference). the same used to be true for coffee and my aeropress.
at the same time, there is literally no world in which i would get a record player, but i have a friend who has a walkman in 2025. to each their own ig!
