Apple's original logo, designed by Ronald Wayne (the company's third co-founder) in 1976, depicted Sir Isaac Newton reading a book under an apple tree, where he supposedly discovered gravity. It captures the moment right before an apple fell on his head. The frame also has an extract from William Wordsworth’s poem, The Prelude: “Newton…a mind forever voyaging through strange seas of thought…Alone.” Two weeks after the company was formed, Wayne sold his 10% stake in the company for $800. Today, it would be worth $368 billion, but he has said that "the stress wasn't worth it". Despite his significant contributions to the company in the early days, Wayne's time with Apple was very short – just 12 days.
