Clueyness: A Weird Kind of Sad
Saved by Tanuj and
Emotional hurts or unsolved problems make extroverted kids feel lonely and isolated—one of the most painful states an extrovert can be in. The extrovert’s agitated behavior when things are not going well shows how isolated they feel. They desperately need to connect with another person at these times.
Still, it can hurt not to have someone, and once you start adding up all the little aches, you wind up with a chronic condition. Some days, when you have a lot on your plate and feel confident, or at least happily preoccupied with life, the stress is manageable. Other days, it can feel like a constant battle against an opponent only you can see.
Now imagine this isn’t an experiment but the shape of a life: instead of waiting for a ball to come your way in a silly game of catch, you’re waiting for anyone to call or drop by or speak your name. You can’t even express it, but you’re hungering for some sign that you are known.
