Too often in my life I ignored my feelings, or worse - invalidated them. I minimized my feelings to make them seem insignificant, but all I did in the process was make myself feel empty. Pushing away feelings of sadness or loss didn’t make those feelings go away - it just made them fester below the surface and come out in unhealthy ways.

I'd gotten into this habit of ignoring all my emotions, because I found it easier to feel nothing. But the movie reminded me that if you stifle the feeling of pain, you also stifle happiness and joy because they only really exist together.
