John Stuart Mill on how he tried to fit new information in relation to his old ideas and models of the world, prior to the great breakdown that would actually enable him to transform. (Did he free himself from his depression?) How many of us have done this? In an attempt to maintain some semblance of order, we try to fit everything into a model or view that no longer works, that has not been working and needs to fall apart, to die so that something new can emerge.
