People are so used to non-committal communication that asking for something directly, sincerely, and with high conviction works extremely well. (E.g. “I truly admire the company you have built and would like to invest in you…”; “You wrote the most interesting book I read this year and I’d like to interview you…”)
2. Clarify Requests Early
Unclear instructions are the quickest path to wasted time. Avoid endless back-and-forth by getting clarity right from the start.
Use a Checklist: Create a structured form for advisers to complete, covering key details like client goals, modeling preferences, and strategy outlines.
Ask Smart Questions: If something is unclear,
predominantly advocates direct communication, characterized by explicit and clearly articulated messages, as a key determinant of leader effectiveness
