Tagtype, an intricate Japanese Gamepad-like keyboard designed by @takram_ , a device now acquired by @themuseumofmodernart as part of the permanent collection. _ Designed back in 2004, 'tagtype' is a Japanese input tool tailored for the unique structure of the Japanese language, consisting of fifty syllabic characters arranged within a ten-consonant by five-vowel matrix. It features two rows of five buttons, totaling ten buttons, which can be alternated to select specific rows and columns within the character matrix. This design significantly enhances the ease and intuitiveness of typing in Japanese compared to the traditional QWERTY keyboard layout. Notably, Sony and Benesse Corporation have incorporated the tagtype input method into their commercial products.
