defaults allow you to change settings on your mac. they are great to put in a shell script so that you can setup a new mac with your favorites easily
mac tip → make your activity monitor icon show information
launch terminal and enter in
defaults write com.apple.ActivityMonitor IconType -int 5
you can change the 5 at the end with one of the following…
0 → default
2 → show network usage over time
3 → show disk usage over time
5 → show current cpu usage as vertical meter
6 → show cpu history graphed over time
mac tip → tracking packages
if you are in a email, notes app, document, etc you can track shipments by highlighting the tracking number → right click → click “Track shipment…” this works with USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL and more. really handy, it doesn’t work in all apps.
