Hall’s “Marx’s Notes on Method: A ‘Reading’ of the ‘1857 Introduction’” is one of the best introductions to Marxism I’ve read. It quotes heavily from Marx himself while elucidating the primary methodical concerns, histories, and stakes. I would definitely assign this in a course.
