TIL: SF had the largest swimming pool in the world—1,000' x 150', big enough to accommodate 10,000 swimmers at once. Lifeguards patrolled thewater in rowboats! They pumped water from the Pacific (right there), filtered, and heated it. Now it's the zoo.
