Repose involves lying on your back on a flat, comfortable surface (floor, bed, carpet, mat, lawn, etc), with arms extended perpendicular to your torso, palms up, legs open, and jaw relaxed, as shown here:

In Repose, you can think about or focus on whatever you want. You already know innately how to be in Repose, without needing to be told what to do or think. When in Repose, your body leads and your mind follows. This happens simply, naturally, and without any conscious effort on your part.

Repose goes beyond simple relaxation. People who experience Repose on a daily basis report feelings of euphoria, which they describe in a variety of ways: lightness, joy, openness, clarity, energy, and bliss.

So, what does this all have to do with Repose? It seems that Repose works like a “pause” button, giving you a temporary break from the seemingly endless stream of thought coming through the active mode of consciousness. In this pause, the receptive mode emerges from the shadows so that you can immerse yourself fully in it.

Repose is revolutionary in its simplicity. Although we have discussed a number of variations, the basic idea is always the same: (1) assume an open position with arms and legs extended; (2) hold that position for seven minutes three times daily; and (3) enjoy the physical and psychological benefits.

In Repose, the objective is to open up your joints as much as you can without causing pain or discomfort.
