The massive love of God calls for more and creates more than mild agreement.

A church with the truth of the gospel in its theology can produce the opposite of the gospel in its practice.

The renewal of our churches starts deep within each of us, as we are renewed in the gospel ourselves.

We should speak well of one another across denominational lines and humble ourselves in our own eyes by forgiving past injuries and promoting the common good in the gospel. Our loving Christ deserves a loving church in the world today!

Yet even when people are offended, our gospel ministries remain sweet to God above.

He loves life, grace and holiness into us; he loves us into covenant, loves us into heaven.7 That is the church’s gospel doctrine. It cleanses us and renews us.

I believe that A. W. Tozer’s ironic quip from a generation ago still holds: “A widespread revival of the kind of Christianity we know today in America might prove to be a moral tragedy from which we would not recover in a hundred years.

Too often we regard God’s power as an added ingredient that turbocharges our own efforts.
