I was friends with Debra Larsen and Bruce Bockmann (who was Morgan’s most playful partner, choosing once, when I was a young associate, to introduce us to a new client with our roles reversed)

heavily inspired by organizational culture research, social psychology, and neuroscience frameworks.

Diversity:

In a couple of other studies, Black women reported more distinct leadership values—suggesting that Black women leaders tend to embody emotional intelligence, championing staff, authenticity, and resilience more than their counterparts in other groups.

For instance, if no one at the top of the organization looks like you, it is harder to feel you belong.

This study is dated, but I’m including it as there’s not much research in this area even today as I write this book.12
