Embracing True Christianity The Need for Evangelical Self-Examination in Our Denominations and Churches

Jesus did not put me here on earth to pursue self-benefit. He put me here to leverage my blessings, including the American dream, for the purposes of the gospel.

Paul’s discipling ambitions were multigenerational. He wanted spiritual great-grandchildren. Timothy (child) was to find faithful men (grandchildren) who would be able to teach others (great-grandchildren).

With what kind of love did Jesus love his disciples? He loved them with a love that continually pointed to the words of the Father. That demonstrated his love through obeying the Father. That assured them of a place being prepared for them. That ultimately laid down his life so that they could be forgiven.

God does not want Pharisees. He wants people who overflow with the joy of serving Jesus.

But he’s been bold for Christ, and he’s urging them to do the same instead of growing complacent in their smug self-satisfaction. He delivers the same message to every church. All must preach Christ and Christ alone—the cross, the Resurrection, and salvation by faith alone. It must never be about the leaders, preachers, and teachers, but always
