Bill Walsh held the need to treat individuals within his organization fairly almost sacrosanct (in return, those individuals were expected to consistently work at their most productive level).

He did not, naturally enough, as a practical businessman, waste much time pondering first principles.

Instead Bill came in through the side door.

His leadership example of doing your job, treating others with respect, expecting people to do their jobs, and holding them accountable is a formula for success that will work in any good organization.

Officers must assert themselves by example and by voice. They must be preeminent in courage, deportment and dress.
