We have to be careful about building theology from the Psalms unless it can be backed up elsewhere in Scripture.

God is the hero of the story.

Christ clarifies and specifies the nature, aim, and trustworthiness of all God’s dealings with us because Christ is where those dealings with us come to ultimate fruition.

our God is a God of detail.

To take a step back once more, when people write about “atonement theology,” the tendency has been to go to Paul and Hebrews and to come to the gospels only for those detached phrases that will support (or so it seems) the kind of “theological” construct that has already been culled from Paul.

Psalm 16 feels more accessible after we’ve walked closely with David.

At the very least, prophecy is truth telling.
