Sublime

I had a strange sensation this morning, an ‘I want to write a poem’ feeling but then I realised I wanted to write a poem I’ve already written several times. For what it’s worth, I think its ok to repeat yourself, I kind of enjoy that in other writers - sitting with them as they loop around the same intractable problem, but the desire made me read some of my last poetry book and feel a nostalgic affection for them. I don’t go back to them often, but it is interesting to me to find myself still in conversation with the emotional impulses of those poems, even if much has changed.
