I proceeded to write another article on the subject, much longer and more informal, and called it “Hemoglobin and the Universe.” My intention was to sell it to ASF, which printed science articles that were imaginative enough to appeal to science fiction readers. Campbell took it and it appeared in the February 1955 issue of the magazine.
