I think one way to view meditation is it’s a series of exercises aimed at becoming very sensitive. your body will naturally do what makes it feel better. by being sensitive enough to feel the cause of suffering (clinging) directly your body will naturally learn to do it less

I tentatively believe that people who want to “get into meditation” are probably better suited cleaning up diet and lifestyle first however they can, and also doing a ton of forgiveness meditation before worrying about anything like shamatha or vipassana. clearing out the system

i think valence is a global property of the sensory field, not a local one. you don't get wellbeing in the present moment by summing the goodness of each percept, but via the overall shape of the field. which is a big deal because it means wellness can come from outside the body

I think “being yourself” is good advice, but not bc your current self is good but bc unresisted flow has the cleanest gradients, you want to learn from the truth of whatever the system naturally is now. you be yourself so you can learn to become the kind of self that is good
