Five years ago, a YouTuber ago might have run their entire ‘business of 1’ through YouTube. Today, that same creator might chop up clips of their content for TikTok, redirect traffic to their personal site through Beacons, sell their own branded merchandise via Shopify, and offer fan interactions via Cameo.
For now, the venture-backed insurers are consumer-facing insurers, which is important to note because consumer is a much smaller market than selling plans through employers.
A measure of success tied to a feeling rather than a number feels enlivening precisely because it’s about what makes you come alive rather than what you think people will want.
