Visions that remain only visions do not survive, but equally, practical ideas that don’t have any supporting superstructure of ideas tend not to thrive because they lack the emotional aura that a thick imagination brings.
Thin imagination is vague and partial, whereas thick imagination combines ideas, philosophy, programmes and detailed implementation. Most influential ideas achieve their impact by becoming thick in this sense, as well as through repetition.
Content has become like clay. LLMs can remix it, summarize it, elaborate on it, hallucinate it, combine it with other content, freely transform it between text, audio, image, and back again. It seems we have achieved a kind of information post-scarcity. A regime of radical overproduction. A content singularity. How will this change things?
