Letting go is not in anybody’s program for happiness, and yet all mature spirituality, in one sense or another, is about letting go and unlearning. You can take that as an absolute. As German mystic-philosopher Meister Eckhart said, the spiritual life has much more to do with subtraction than it does with addition.

In general, even the worst atrocities typically have been committed not simply because they are bad but as a side effect of other actions or as a means to some other end.
Creativity is the opposite of anxiety. While anxiety stems from uncertainty and lack of control, creativity channels that uncertainty into optimism.
Some of the best advice I ever got about starting in a new organization is: Don’t cannonball. Ease into the pool. I’ve passed this advice on to those joining my own: no matter how talented you are, or how much you have to add, give yourself time to understand the organization before you try to impact it.
