Aspire to be a generalist. Your engineers should be better engineers than you. Your data analyst would have greater data fluency, and so on. But you should have the core competencies in all those roles. Keep a mindset of continuous growth and don’t limit anything as outside your job description.
A common failure state I’ve seen is for PMs to over-anchor on strategy and leave tactics to the wayside. Until you're running the department, you need to get the day-to-day work right.
