To be offline is akin to not existing in this day and age.
The world, I realized, is built on passive connection, on the low-effort maintenance of relationships through shared content, mutual voyeurism, and the occasional emoji reaction. Without that, you become a ghost, haunting the edges of people’s lives but never quite materializing.
We learned to be "good" - to follow the rules about putting others first, never being selfish, always being agreeable. But in doing so, we lost touch with our own trickster energy: the cunning, vivifying power that could help us steal back what's been taken from us.
