what does it take to build worlds?
“For adults as well as children, computers... offer companionship without the mutuality and complexity of a human relationship. They seduce because they provide a chance to be in complete control, but they can trap people into an infatuation with control, with building one’s own private world.”
be wary of the seduction of complete control, world builder.
What I'm curious about here is Jack Collison’s awareness is insightful but is it something that’s a result of society and civilization having built up so many layers or veils that we have forgotten to see.
This concept is usually explored in fantasy, humans having lost their ties to magic (nature) and their ability to practice or see. In our quest to build and progress we never look back to see what were the amazing things we lost on the way.
I love this observation but it also makes me sad because we are so easily losing the ability to be in awe of everyday things.
What if people sought out ads instead of blocking/avoiding them?
What kind of advertising could do that?
What kind of world would enable that?
